With the release of the new film adaptation of R.L. Stine’s horror series, “Goosebumps,” many fans are wondering if there will be another film in the “Fear Street” franchise. One of the producers of the film, Neal H. Moritz, has said that he would like to make another “Fear Street” movie if the first one is successful.

What is Fear Street?

Fear Street is a street in the town of Shadyside where a lot of scary things have happened. The street is named after its founder, Simon Fear, who built a mansion there in the 17th century. The street has been the scene of many murders and other disturbing events over the years, and it is said to be cursed.

Since the early 1990s, there have been several movies made based on the Fear Street books, but it has been over 20 years since the last one was released. With the recent release of the Goosebumps movie, which was also based on a series of books, there has been renewed interest in the Fear Street franchise. It is not known if there are any plans to make another movie, but if so, it would likely be released some time in 2018 or 2019.

The History of Fear Street

The Fear Street series began in 1989 with the publication of The New Girl. The book, which was subtitled “A Mystery at Shadyside High,” introduced readers to the town of Shadyside, Ohio, and its resident ghost, Polly Prescott. The New Girl was followed by 34 more books in the series, the last of which, Don’t Stay Up Late, was published in 1995.

In 1992, the first Fear Street movie was released. Titled simply “Fear Street,” the film was based on the book The New Girl and starred Leah Pinsent as Polly Prescott. The movie was not a critical success, but it did well enough at the box office to warrant a sequel, 1994’s Fear Street 2: Halloween Party. That film, which starred Tori Spelling and Brian Bloom, was based on the book Party Games.

The third and final Fear Street movie, 1995’s Fear Street 3: The Final Chapter, was based on the book Don’t Stay Up Late. The film starred Shannen Doherty as a woman who is terrorized by the ghost of her sister (hailey Noelle Johnson), who died in a car accident. Though it was billed as “the final chapter” of the franchise, Fear Street 3 did not perform as well as its predecessors and plans for further films were scrapped.

In 2009, it was announced that 20th Century Fox had acquired the rights to adapt R.L. Stine’s Goosebumps novels into a feature film. The film, which was directed by Rob Letterman and starring Jack Black as R.L. Stine, was released in 2015 to positive reviews and solid box office returns. A sequel, Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween, followed in 2018 with director Ari Sandel at the helm.

With Goosebumps proving there is still an audience for R.Lstine’s work, could we see another Fear Street movie in the future? It’s certainly possible; after all, we’ve seen stranger things happen in Hollywood!

The Fear Street Movies

The Fear Street movies are a series of three American horror films based on the Fear Street book series by R. L. Stine. The films were directed by WesCraven and released by 20th Century Fox.

The first film, The Dead End, was released on August 4, 1995, and received mixed reviews from critics. However, the film was a box office success, grossing $15 million worldwide against its $8 million budget.

The second film, The Burning, was released on October 18, 1996, and was also a box office success, grossing $19 million worldwide against its $10 million budget. However, the film received negative reviews from critics and was panned by audiences.

The third and final film in the series, The Meltdown, was released on October 31, 1997, and received mixed-to-negative reviews from critics and audiences alike. However, the film was a box office disappointment, grossing only $9 million worldwide against its $12 million budget.

Will There Be Another Fear Street Movie?

There is no word yet on whether or not there will be another Fear Street movie, but given the success of the first film, it seems likely that Fox will greenlight a sequel. Until then, fans of the franchise can rewatch the first movie or read the books on which it is based.

The Future of Fear Street

It’s been three years since the last Fear Street movie was released, and fans are wondering if there will be another one. The franchise, based on R.L. Stine’s popular YA horror novels, has had a checkered history on the big screen. The first movie, 1994’s The Sign of Fear, was a box office bomb, but the sequel, 1997’s Return to Fear Street, did better business. The third and most recent installment, 2006’s Don’t Go to Sleep!, was a commercial and critical flop.

With each movie costing more money to make and earning less at the box office, it seems unlikely that we’ll see another Fear Street movie anytime soon. But you never know – stranger things have happened in Hollywood!

Since the release of the last Fear Street movie in 2014, there has been no news of another installment in the cinematic franchise. However, given the popularity of the books on which the movies are based, it seems likely that another film will be produced at some point. Until then, fans can enjoy rewatching the existing movies or reading the novels on which they are based.
