In September 2019, it was announced that Adam McKay would direct a political satire comedy film for Netflix titled Don’t Look Up, with Will Ferrell co-writing the screenplay alongside Chris Hall. In October 2019, it was revealed that Jennifer Lawrence and Leonardo DiCaprio had been cast in leading roles. The following month, Jonah Hill joined the cast of the film.
